In conjunction with the Great American Cleanup, the Don’t Mess with Texas Trash Up, the Keep Texas Recycling (KTR)/Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages recycling, and the LCRA Steps Forward Day Project, KSSB planned a few activities in support of these programs. Such activities deserve recognition. Thanks to all the volunteers that made it possible.
Thursday, April 11
San Saba Elementary School and Staff-submitted their final load of the plastic bottles in the recycling challenge, yielding over 50K plastic bottles/1,850 pounds of recycling.
Friday, April 12
Twenty-one LCRA employees volunteered to assist KSSB and the city of San Saba in an LCRA Steps Forward Day Project. The volunteers worked in the San Saba River Nature Park, refreshing the entrance flower beds, trimming, and weeding around the park, and completing the roof/final steps of the new covered bench.
Saturday, April 13
Approximately 55 volunteers took to the streets, parks, neighborhoods, and throughout the community to gather litter, collecting approximately 11,480 pounds of trash. Additionally, the Rotary Club volunteers conducted their Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup along Highway 190 West, and the KSSB Board Directors beautified the downtown flower beds.
Since these annual beauties wouldn’t be lasting much longer, volunteers removed the winter plants from the flowerpots in preparation for spring flowers.
Tuesday, April 15
The KSSB Board Director volunteers again were hard at it, replanting the spring flowers in the downtown planters.
Wednesday, April 16
Once again the Directors were meeting and preparing for the May activities.
Your clean, beautiful community requires many hours of volunteers giving so much of their time, and it is very much appreciated. Be ready, you will see the beautiful results of their hard work in the coming months.
