Approximately 58 people attended the National Day of Prayer gathering at the San Saba County Courthouse last Thursday, May 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. This year’s theme was Lift up the Word - Light up the World.

Judge Jody Fauley welcomed everyone who took time out of their busy day for this important event. Several church leaders in town were asked to lead the group in prayer for specific categories:

Tom Brand (Pastor - The Father’s House) prayed for the Church.

Paula Sonner (St. Mary’s Catholic Church) prayed for the Family.

Jairus McKamie (Pastor - Hill Country Bible Church) prayed for Education.

Judy Swarts (Pastor - First Methodist Church) prayed for Business and the Workplace.

J.D. Barker (Youth Pastor - First Baptist Church) prayed for the Military.

Rodney Payton (Worship Pastor - First Baptist Church) prayed for Arts, Media, and Entertainment.

Alan Arthur (Incoming Pastor - First Baptist Church) prayed for the Government.

John Alsbrooks (Pastor - First Presbyterian Church) prayed for Law Enforcement and First Responders.

To conclude the prayer meeting, Kelly Murray from First Methodist Church had everyone join together to recite the Lord’s Prayer. The Lord's Prayer can be found in the Bible in Matthew 6:9-13 and reads as follows: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
