Calvin Henniger

Calvin Richard Henniger was surrounded by loved ones when he passed peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in Odessa, Texas. He was 94. Calvin was born in Fayette County, Texas, on March 18, 1929, to Moody and Ella Henniger. He was raised in Bend, Texas, and there began his love of farming.

Ray Stuart

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ray Stuart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. Ray was born on August 21, 1942, in Brady, Texas, to Godfrey and Laura Stuart. Ray was a proud graduate from Richland Springs High School and Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education. Ray married the love of his life, Karen Townsend, in 1965 in San Saba, Texas. Ray enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and sharing his agricultural knowledge with others. He worked for over 30 years at Furr’s Inc. as the Greenhouse Manager and later owned and operated his own business, Stuart’s Greenhouse with his son, Reagan Stuart. Following his retirement, Ray worked for Avero Diagnostics as the Fleet Manager.

Peggye Whittenburg

PeggyeAnne (Hillman) Whittenburg, 83, of San Saba, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024, at San Saba Nursing and Rehab. Peggye was born in Leakesville, Mississippi. on February 10, 1940, to Ford and Vera (McInnis) Hillman. She was the oldest of four children.

Joe E. Cummins

Joe E. Cummins entered heavens gates at the age of 83. Joe was born on August 2, 1940, in Comstock, Texas, to Hubert and Mayberry Cummins. A graduate of Goldthwaite High School, Joe met the love of his life Lou Etta Jordan while in attendance; they later married and spent 56 wonderful years together. After a lengthy career with TU Electric, Joe retired and moved to San Saba.

Jimmy Johnson

Jimmy Johnson gained his heavenly wings on January 22, 2024, surrounded by his beloved wife and soulmate, Louise, and all of his daughters, sons-in-laws, and some of his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Louise; his daughters, Debra (Tony) Guidroz, Dianne Higginbotham, Donna (Jack) Blossman, and Angie (Keith) Gorsuch; grandchildren: Jessica (Brad) Williams, William (Brooke) Cade, Ryan Guidroz, Logan (Kathryn) Guidroz, Cory Rixse, Aaron (Shelby) Rixse, Britney Rixse, Brandy (Chad) Thiel, Laura (Randy) Weeks, Jake, Jacob, and Kenzie Howard; and 14 great-grandchildren.

June Elizabeth Davis

Our dear Aunt June, June Elizabeth Davis, left us Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. She was 87 years young, born June 28, 1936, at Sloan Community in San Saba, Texas, to George Barrom Yarbrough and Thelma Elizabeth (Langham) Yarbrough.

Martha McDoniel

high school and then finished her high school career at Crockett High School after moving to Austin. Martha also took several courses at Austin Community College. Martha worked various jobs including legislative aide for Lloyd Dogett, waitressing, photo mat technician, and flower salesman. Most notably, Martha was the president of Air Right, an HVAC company.

Les Dawson

a total of 30 years with the Texas DPS, first stationed in Bellville, then Hempstead, before requesting to serve in San Saba (where he was for 22 years before retiring). He then served short stints as a San Saba city policeman and Sheriff’s Deputy, and finally 16 years as San Saba County Justice of the Peace.
