Testing is in full swing this time of year. We’ve had some fun preparing in the elementary hallway with a “game” theme. Our motto is “Level Up Your STAAR game.” Mrs. Owen’s theme was Super Mario Brothers. Students enjoyed a fun classroom transformation with decorations, themed games like Hunt for Yoshi’s Eggs, Fireball Toss, and a Mario themed obstacle course. Throughout the unit, students reviewed grammar skills and reading strategies. Through analyzing their writing, students set writing goals and worked to improve in those areas. In Mrs. Padgett’s room, they had a Jumanji theme. Students were surrounded by a jungle-like atmosphere and played Jumanji, a game with challenges to be completed. Students earned their turn in the game by answering science questions. They practiced teamwork and strategy and silliness! Mrs. Randolph had a Candyland theme. Students reviewed math skills and played some candy themed minute to win it games. There is even a life sized Candyland game board! Good luck to our students testing.

Our track teams performed very well at area with 16 athletes advancing to Regionals! We do not have all of those results in at this time, but we should have them by next week’s article.

This Thursday evening, we will have our 2nd annual Color Run! This is just a fun run and is free of charge. It is a half mile course with the option to run it as many times as you’d like. Please wear clothes that you won’t mind getting a little messy. White shirts work best so that the color really pops! You might also bring a towel to lay down in your car when you get in it so as not to stain anything inside.

Have a great week!
