Joel Dunn Observation Program Leader CoCoRaHS Regional Coordinator NWS WFO San Angelo, Texas

In December 1999, Charlotte Spence joined the National Weather Service’s Cooperative Observing Program as a volunteer weather observer where she records daily temperature and rainfall data.

In the past 24 years, Ms. Spence has observed 613.94 inches of rainfall, and 14.6 inches of snow. The hottest day recorded was August 14, 2020 with a high temperature of 112°F; the coldest day recorded was February 16, 2021 with a low temperature of 2°F.

Ms. Spence should have received her 20-year Length of Service award in the spring following her anniversary. However, it was delayed due to COVID, and we appreciate Ms. Spence’s patience.

The National Weather Service wants to thank Ms. Spence for her many years of service and dedication to taking quality weather observations.
